our story

Since 1999, Terra Legno has engineered flooring that earns its place on the drawing twice — once for how it looks, and again for how it holds up. Design leads. Engineering makes it practical: dimensional stability over radiant heat, wear layers matched to real traffic, finishes that repair in place. Beautiful is the starting point, not the achievement.

Designed first.
Colour, grain, width, and texture are chosen the way a designer would choose them — for the room, not the catalogue.

Engineered to stay.
Engineered wood with multi-ply construction, thick wear layers, and repairable finishes mean the floor approved on the sample board is the same floor in ten years. Our luxury vinyl is held to the same standard — a waterproof rigid core rated for commercial traffic.

Technicals & FAQ

Which Terra Legno wood collection is the best quality?

All Terra Legno collections are built to the same standard — luxury engineered flooring engineered to last a lifetime. They are not tiered by quality, but rather four specifiable ways: overall thickness, wear layer thickness, plank width, and character grading. The biggest performance difference is the wear layer thickness, ranging from 2mm to 4mm and determines how many times the floor can be refinished in its lifetime.

For most projects it performs better. A solid ¾” floor yields roughly 4mm of usable wood above the tongue, so a Terra Legno 4mm wear layer matches it. The difference is in the core: multi-ply construction holds its dimension where solid wood cups and gaps, which is why engineered flooring can be specified over radiant heat, over concrete, and below grade. The same refinishable timber, with fewer constraints.

A sawn face is cut from the log with a saw, the same way solid lumber is cut. Sliced wear layers are cut with a knife. Rotary-peeled veneers are produced by soaking the log in water before cutting, which ruptures the grain and permanently reduces durability — these floors cannot be refinished at all, and rotary-peeled faces are routinely compared to plywood because they are cut the same way. Terra Legno Autentico is sliced and Nuevo Classico, Natura & Lusso collections are sawn-faced for improved performance and longevity. The grain is intact, so the floor reads as solid timber and can be resanded.

Yes, terra legno offers dozens of custom non-stock LVT / LVP designs that are suited for both commercial and residential applications.

Our engineered collections achieve the typical rating requirements for IIC and STC installed over underlayment, meeting the IIC 50 minimum typical of NYC co-op and condo boards. Test reports are available for board submission.

A complete engineered wood specification includes species, core construction and total thickness, wear layer thickness, plank width and length, cut and grade (rift and quartered versus plain sawn), surface texture, finish type, sheen level, installation method, and moisture tolerance. Terra Legno provides a specification details and reviews draft specs with your project team before issue. Call us now to get started.

In-stock collections ship within 1 business day (or even same day is a possibility). Custom colours, widths, and finishes require anywhere from 4-12 weeks from approved sample. We recommend engaging us at design development so production aligns with your construction schedule.
